Window Blind FAQ
When you invest in your home, you want to make the best decisions for your lifestyle–improving the look and feel of your home. We’d like to help you understand if window blinds are the right fit for you by sharing frequently asked questions about this specific type of window covering, so you can do your home as you’re in the process of buying blinds.
What types of blinds are available?
We carry all 4 collections of horizontal window blinds from Hunter Douglas. They are custom blinds–tailored to fit the exact measurements of your home’s windows. These 4 collections include fabric, metal, composite and wood blinds. We also offer vertical blinds from Hunter Douglas, in traditional vertical blinds and panel track blinds.
Do you offer professional measurements?
Yes, our team of window covering specialists is trained to take accurate measurements of your windows. Our window blinds are created to fit the custom sizing of your windows to ensure that you receive the most benefits of privacy and light control. We also identify obstacles and layout challenges while measuring to make sure your custom blinds will open and close easily and as they are designed to.
Which motorized blinds do you sell?
We offer Hunter Douglas blinds, which are motorized with the PowerView automation system. These motorized blinds are compatible with most smart home systems on the market, which means you can use your smart devices to control them. We also offer a range of control, from the simplicity of a remote or basic features in the app, all the way to smart control that allows you to integrate your automatic blinds with your smart home system. Three of our collections of horizontal blinds are motorized tilt only, which means the slats tilt open and closed. We sell fabric blinds that can be motorized for full lift and slat tilting.
Are window blinds considered energy efficient?
Window blinds do have energy efficient capabilities. The slats can be closed to prevent direct light from entering your San Antonio home–which stops the surfaces from heating up–the leading culprit of radiant heat. Blinds do not insulate the windows like some of our window shade collections do. When it comes to conserving energy, the slats can also be opened up to point at the ceiling, allowing natural light to enter while privacy is maintained, avoiding the overuse of artificial lights. Our fabric blinds collection is crafted with materials, shaped specifically to invite glowing natural light into the space, even when the blinds are closed, which can reduce the use of overhead lights.
Is it easy to keep blinds clean?
Yes, window blinds are generally easy to clean–that is one of the aspects that homeowners love most about them! Any time you attempt to clean the window coverings in your home, you should always refer to the brand recommendation for your specific materials prior to cleaning. Light dusting is highly recommended as a regular cleaning habit, to prevent build-up. This can be done with a duster or vacuum attachment. Hard treatments, like woods and metals, can be easily spot cleaned if needed. Use a gentle cleanser and a clean microfiber cloth. Fabrics need to be spot tested first to consider the results. Reach out to our team if you are in the process of cleaning window coverings and find that you have questions.
